Only Concrete Edging has passed the test of time in our wet Northwest climate. Here are some other options that do not work very well.
Wood edging rots and attracts termites and ants.
Plastic edging does not stay in place. It warps, cracks and breaks down over time and also gets chewed up by the mower.
Bricks and Blocks are not stable and shift around. They are not an effective root barrier as they are not a continous edge.
No edging will leave your landscape uncontained and allow vegetation to spread uncontrolled.
